EXCELLENCE IN TECHNOLOGY AWARD
The Excellence in Technology Award will be presented to the agency that has developed the best overall outstanding project to meet their agency objectives. A Screening Panel will recommend a winner based on all category submissions.
LEADERSHIP AWARDS
Demonstrated Leadership in Management of Information Technology
The Demonstrated Leadership in Management of Information Technology award is for MIS Directors, Agency Chief Information Officers or Commissioner level employees who have staffed, planned and executed technology projects that have assisted their agency in meeting its mission. The winner of this category will be evaluated on the basis of vision, leadership and support of IT throughout the agency and the City.
Demonstrated Excellence in Project Management
The Demonstrated Excellence in Project Management will be awarded to individual staff or managers who have shown extraordinary skill and responsibility in managing a specific technology-related initiative through all phases of development, from conceptualization to deployment. The winner of this award will be determined on the basis of the overall success of the specific project, as well as the vision and leadership demonstrated.
Commissioner's Award for Technology-driven Business Transformation
This award will be given to an Agency Executive or Manager who has demonstrated vision, leadership and support of technology projects that have fundamentally transformed the business operations of their organization. The nominated leader should have a clear record of fostering a team approach to solving business problems, a demonstrated ability to see projects through to a completion and show evidence of completing innovative technology initiatives that fundamentally transformed the day to day operations of their organization.
DEVELOPMENT AWARDS
Best Application Serving an Agency's Business Needs
The Best Application Serving an Agency's Business Needs will be awarded to individuals and teams that have designed, developed and deployed new applications or improved existing applications that assist their agency in handling its day-to-day operations.
Best Application Serving the Public
The Best Application Serving the Public will be awarded to individuals and teams that have designed, developed and deployed new applications or improved existing applications that deliver services more efficiently and effectively to the public or other external stakeholders.
Best IT Collaboration Among Agencies
The Best IT Collaboration among Agencies will be awarded using similar criteria to the Best Application Serving the Public award and the Best Application Serving an Agency award. An outstanding application and collaborative effort between agencies or jurisdictions are the basic qualifiers for this award.
Best In-house Developed Application
The Best In-House Developed Application will be awarded to individuals and teams that have designed, developed and deployed applications or improved existing systems that serve either internal or external users. This application must be 100% in-house designed, developed and deployed.
Most Innovative Use of Technology
The Most Innovative Use of Technology will be determined based on either new technologies deployed in an agency or on existing technology utilized in an innovative manner.
Best Wireless Project
The Best Wireless Project will be awarded to an individual or team that has designed, developed and deployed an application that utilizes wireless technology for data transport. The application can use any type of mobile device for the receipt and transmission of information. Wireless networks within a building will not be considered for this award.
Best GIS Application
The Best GIS Application will be awarded to individuals and teams that have designed, developed and deployed applications or improved existing systems that use GIS technology. Applications that incorporate GIS technology as a key component of their functionality are eligible for this award. It is expected that the application will provide more efficient and effective services to the clients who use it. The application can be for internal or external users and can serve one organization or be of city-wide scope.
Green IT Award
This award recognizes information technology applications resulting in cleaner air or water, less waste, less traffic, conservation of energy and natural resources, or reduced use of hazardous materials. The Green Award honors information technology projects that demonstrate exceptional results or innovation in support of Mayor Bloomberg's plan to make New York City the greenest city in America.
SUPPORT AWARDS
Excellence in IT Support and Service -- Manager
An Excellence in IT Support and Service award nomination is requested from all agencies. Each agency is asked to select its most outstanding technical support Manager for recognition. The purpose of this award is to recognize the Manager of a team that provides superior operational and customer service in such a manner that problems never arise or are quickly and effectively handled. Criteria for determining your nominee for this award should include quality of service, customer focus, response time and dependability. Only one person from each agency may be submitted for this award.
Excellence in IT Support and Service -- Staff
An Excellence in IT Support and Service award nomination is requested from all agencies. Each agency is asked to select its most outstanding technical support employee for recognition. Criteria for determining your nominee for this award should include quality of service, customer focus, response time and dependability. Only one person from each agency may be submitted for this award.
