2005 Digital Counties Survey And the Winners Are… The Center for Digital Government and National Association of Counties are pleased to announce the winners of their 2005 Digital Counties Survey, the nation’s most respected study on information technology applications in county government – and the most powerful benchmarking tool for county governments. In April, all counties in the United States were invited to participate in the survey, which consisted of 22 questions (95 data points) that focused on how county governments are deploying information technology to advance their service delivery to citizens. The survey grouped counties into four population categories: 500,000 or more; 250,000-499,999; 150,000-249,999; and less than 150,000. A top-10 ranking was established for each population category. This year’s survey is sponsored by Hyland Software, developers of OnBase -- and proud supporter of all local governments in the United States. It gives us great pleasure to honor and acknowledge the hard work and effort put forth by our nation’s top digital county governments. Congratulations to all of them. 2005 Digital Counties Survey Winners 500,000 or more population: 1st: Fairfax County, Virginia 2nd: Fulton County, Georgia (tie) 2nd: San Diego County, California (tie) 3rd: Orange County, Florida 4th: King County, Washington 5th: Montgomery County, Maryland 6th: Oakland County, Michigan 7th: Westchester County, New York 8th: Anne Arundel County, Maryland 9th: Alameda County, California (tie) 9th: Tulsa County, Oklahoma (tie) 10th: Miami-Dade County, Florida 250,000-499,999 population 1st: Prince William County, Virginia 2nd: Loudoun County, Virginia 3rd: Dakota County, Minnesota 4th: Boulder County, Colorado 5th: Sedgwick County, Kansas (tie) 5th: Seminole County, Florida (tie) 6th: Utah County, Utah 7th: Richland County, South Carolina 8th: Dutchess County, New York 9th: Washtenaw County, Michigan 10th: Marin County, California 150,000-249,999 population 1st: Roanoke County, Virginia 2nd: Merced County, California 3rd: Arlington County, Virginia (tie) 4th: Hamilton County, Indiana (tie) 4th: Clermont County, Ohio 5th: Scott County, Iowa 6th: Frederick County, Maryland 7th: Jackson County, Oregon 8th: Racine County, Wisconsin 9th: Carroll County, Maryland 10th: McLean County, Illinois Less than 150,000 population: 1st: Charles County, Maryland 2nd: Nevada County, California 3rd: Napa County, California 4th: Sutter County, California 5th: Boone County, Missouri, 6th: Stearns County, Minnesota 7th: Olmsted County, Minnesota 8th: Albemarle County, Virginia 9th: Delaware County, Ohio 10th: Deschutes County, Oregon For more information on the Digital Counties Survey, contact Janet Grenslitt at jgrenslitt@centerdigitalgov.com.
