One key to successful leadership is promoting an ethical and accountable culture. This “ethical leadership” requires open and accessible communications, which calls for access to information, and monitoring and reporting events in a systematic way. Case management is the answer. Though once synonymous only with social services or the law department, the automated work flow at the core of advanced case management systems is now coupled with helpline services and an organization’s ethics standards to identify issues, assist with analysis, investigate events, follow up internally and externally, track trends, and report to the public and officials.
Cloud computing models can work in the public sector if done right — but there is no one-size-fits-all approach. Over time, the options and approaches have been expanded to several hybrid models that deliver some services via a cloud while still maintaining certain software inside of an existing environment.
