The Digital Government Achievement Awards (DGAA) recognize outstanding agency and department Web sites and projects at the application and infrastructure level. ALL United States and international GOVERNMENT AGENCIES - all levels and all countries - may enter their actively functioning, fully operational applications and projects. The contest is held concurrently with the Best of the Web Awards (BOW) contest which has recognized excellence of official Web portals of United States cities, counties and states for the past 15 years. In 2011, nominations for BOW and DGAA can be made April 1 - June 1. Starting in 2012, nominations for both contests can be made March 1 – May 1 annually. The winners' workshop and awards presentation gala are held each September.
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Sept. 1, 2010 - e.Republic’s Center for Digital Government has announced its 2010 Best of the Web and Digital Government Achievement Awards, tapping state and local governments across the U.S. who are tops in digital delivery.
In its 15th year, Best of the Web (BOW) recognizes outstanding government portals and websites based on their innovations, functionality and efficiencies. The five top Web portals of states, cities and counties were chosen and ranked. This year’s first place winners in each category were California (state), Boston, Mass. (city) and Chesterfield County, Va. (county).
The Digital Government Achievement Awards (DGAA) recognize outstanding agency and department websites and projects at the application and infrastructure level. Fifty awards were given.
Cathilea Robinett, executive director of the Center for Digital Government, said: “The winners’ innovative use of the Internet to continue delivering citizen services despite tight fiscal constraints is inspiring. This skilled use of the Web embodies the spirit of the Best of the Web awards and provides examples to state and local government leaders around the country on how to bring quality services to their citizens while containing costs. We applaud all of you for your creativity and your dedication.”
